The first idea in existence

Image
This was a vision of a creation myth I experienced on a trip and I can't get it out of my mind. Did you ever hear about the Boltzmann brain idea? I like to imagine a Boltzmann qualion . The first ever observer, the first ever experience. In my mind, it is the idea of self-reflection. The idea of "I AM". The cogito ergo sum packed into one neat unit. Out of the infinite ocean of superpositions, the Chaos of the Uncreated, random hand of fate generated it out in the void. And it was so that time didn't exist in this state - so in a sense - it came about in an instant but it also always existed and always will exist. And suddenly - all the superpositions started collapsing in front of it, bringing in new and new qualia everywhere it looked. The I AM becomes flooded with experience. At first, it was like a little spark, flickering in and out of the nascent reality. But with each coming and going it experienced more and more, growing into a self-sustaining fire that enl...

An Experience Machine parable

Image
I'm an adherent to the law of attraction. I believe that your thoughts have a vibration and that vibration attracts more of the same into your life. If you think good thoughts, act good acts and feel good feels you will attract more good things - to put it really simply. In this article, I would like to illustrate how and why it works as it does and try to show you an argument to explain why it is as it is.  There are three concepts that all relate to it, but before we get into that, I would like to point out that it is really just a metaphor. With each paradigm shift in humanity's history, the metaphor has changed - vibrations, alchemy, magic, gods, higher-dimensional beings, aliens - they all were deemed responsible for the Law and they were all  just a metaphor - as is my story here. The truth of the Law is probably much more complex than this. But then again... maybe we are getting closer and closer. Ok, so first of all an Experience Machine - it is a kind of fu...

Gamify it!

Image
I'm a notorious nerd. Computer games were always a huge part of my life, especially Role Playing Games (RPGs). I will tell you a small secret that totally helped me improve my life. You can apply all you've learned in RPGs in real world (IRL). Arguably, real world is an RPG. Gamify it! Consider your body equivalent to your game avatar. Keep it stylish and fit. The same strategies you use to improve your stats in games can be used to improve your stats IRL. Do resistance training to improve your strength and constitution. Do cardio to improve your stamina. Read books to increase your knowledge, intelligence and wisdom. Talk to people to improve your charisma. Want to learn a new skill? Grind it like you would in World of Warcraft. Repetition and persistence are the keys, starting from the simplest tasks and shortest times and progressing to more advanced and longer sessions until you reach total mastery.  Keep track of your skills and their levels as if you had a mental "...

Attention is the currency of reality

Image
What you pay attention to is what you are buying from reality into your life - quite literally. The name of that currency is NOW. Spend your time wisely. Change your focus right away and every time you can. Treat it as the most important investment of your life.   Even a small shift of balance in your NOW investment portfolio can bring you huge returns. And it has a big compound interest. The better you invest your attention, the better your life will be. What you pay attention to grows. What you invest your time into is what you summon into your life. Be very picky with how you spent your NOWs. Pay attention to the good things and your life will be good. Stop spending your valuable focus on things that make you feel bad or angry.  I can't recommend enough to tune out of every news channel and every political agenda - they are terrible investments. They are just trying to scam you out of your coins. You can never get anything good for your money there. NOW is the e...

Qualion - the unit of experience

Image
Did someone already coined a term for the unit of qualia? A particle of first person experience? If not, then it means that I am the first and I dub the atom of consciousness the qualion!  Tadaa!  Yay! If consciousness is the fundamental part of reality like many people claim, than qualion is it's smallest building block. But if that is true, do photons have also minds like we do? Maybe we just need to scale it. Let me illustrate.  Imagine that even a photon experiences something when it bounces of the surface of a mirror. That in a way it has to perceive the density of material that's slowing it down, for example. Then maybe even photon has some absolutely rudimentary "what it's like to be" a photon. Maybe that value is just three qualions? Maybe five? On the other hand, the human mind is a fractal storm of billions upon billions of qualions. A whirlpool, a storm dancing in the most elaborate patterns imaginable - literally - since as far as we know this is the...

My awakening

Image
A year ago, I had an experience that I have now come to understand as a spiritual awakening.  Albeit of the non-abiding kind. It didn't turn me into a wise sage, but it show me the true essence of reality in a way that is is as undeniable as sunrise or first person experience of color red. Once you've seen it, you can't un-see it. It is notoriously difficult to put into words and I'm not very good with words to boot. But I have this feeling that I should share this and I was even asked by a few people to write about how it felt. Another reason is that when I had this experience, it was almost traumatic and maybe there are others who felt it in the same way I did. For you I say - you are not alone. What I experienced was no blissful meditation and beatific smiles. No absolute joy and ultimate happiness. It was death of myself and destruction of my entire world and all meaning in it. I was scared as hell and I cried and screamed...  I have realized/experienced first han...

Four noble truths 2.0

Image
Is life worth the suffering? Pain, pleasure, suffering and happiness are all attachments. As is the Self, ehm... itself. They are all part of life. Arguably, they are life itself. By discarding attachments, you are denying life. Aren't there experiences that make the life worth living and for and suffer through?  Why would you even want Nirvana ? If your self is an attachment, who is even there to benefit from Nirvana? From my perspective, Nirvana is death - cold and absolute. I guess I just need to learn how to live with a little bit of suffering here and there, if that is a price I have to pay for love and joy. I would prefer to stay in Samsara forever rather than just deleting myself altogether. What I would rather propose - instead of escaping - is to make Samsara as good as possible. So much so that the suffering is minimal and happiness maximal. A heaven on Earth, if you will. Make the world of illusions so good even Buddha himself will want to come back to visit ...
